The government has banned foreign employment for bike rider and taxi driver positions in Dubai and Qatar. The Foreign Employment Department has decided to stop pre-approval because most of the workers who have gone to such positions in those countries are in trouble.

According to information officer of the department, Krishna Prasad Bhusal, many workers who have gone to such positions in those countries have been facing numerous issues. One of the main problems is that most workers are not receiving the minimum salary as per the approval demand letter. Moreover, many workers have to stay unemployed for a long time because they cannot easily obtain a driving license.

Nepali workers having to pay huge fines due to traffic violations, as many of them lack knowledge and experience related to traffic rules and road discipline in those countries.

Due to the increased safety concerns for Nepali workers, the Nepali government has decided to stop pre-approval for bike rider and taxi driver positions in Dubai and Qatar. The Foreign Employment Department has requested the Nepali Embassy in Qatar and Dubai not to verify the demand letter for these positions. The decision will remain in force until further notice.
